Turns out, Nick Jonas did not by chance stand next to Jay-Z at Made in America music festival on Saturday, September 5. The former Jonas Brothers member was taken under the Hov's wings, being made into the rapper's next "project."
Jay-Z thought Jonas would be the next Justin Timberlake, a source told Hollywood Life. "Jay-Z is always a forward thinking businessman and always wants to be on the cutting edge of music, business and anything else that will make him the entrepreneur that he is - and his next project is Nick Jonas," an insider said. "He wants to record with him and he wants Beyonce to record with him. He sees Nick as the next Justin Timberlake."
Jonas has just released his new single "Levels" and performed the high-tempo track at the recent MTV Video Music Awards. The song along with a cover of OutKast's "Roses" and Bell Biv DeVoe's "Poison" were part of his playlist at Made in America. Jay-Z, who founded and curated the fest, was so impressed by Jonas' performance that he wanted to collaborate with the 22-year-old.
Right after the fest, Jonas posted a black-and-white photo of him hanging out with Jay-Z over cigars.
