Seun Kuti hits out at Buhari for Fela’s imprisonment
Son of Afrobeat Legend, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, Seun Kuti, has hit out at former Head of State and three-time presidential candidate, General Muhammad Buhari (rtd), calling him an ‘evil and mean usurper and human rights abuser‘. Seun, who is currently on tour of the United States with the Egypt 80 Band, posted a throwback picture of himself, his sister, his late father and Fela’s wives on Instagram, with the caption of the picture depicting it was the very first moment Seun met his father. Going further, Seun said ‘He (Fela) had been imprisoned by the evil and mean usurper and human rights abuser, Mohammad Buhari!’ in a post that would not be helpful to the political fortunes of Buhari in 2015 if he decides to contest again. The picture was taken in 1986 after another former Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida released Fela from the prison where Buhari had sent the legendary musician to for a 20-month jail term for allegedly smuggling currencies into the country.
