Kim and Kanye have reportedly hired a surrogate to carry their third child, and the baby is expected to arrive early next year.
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are having a new addition to their growing family. According to numerous tabloid reports, the couple is expecting another child. The baby is reportedly due in January via surrogate.
"The entire family is over the moon. Kim had been looking for a surrogate for months until recently when she found the perfect candidate," a source opens up to PEOPLE.
"Given her health scares in the past," the insider adds, referring to her high-risk pregnancy. "Kim felt the need to hire a surrogacy agency that helped serve as the liaison in finding a healthy woman who would be a great surrogate option for her and Kanye. Both of them have been super involved in the process."
"They want everything to be perfect and for the baby to be extremely healthy. They don't want any complications and Kim is providing an ideal eating regimen and diet so everyone knows what the baby is consuming before it's born."
The baby will be the third child for the couple, joining big sister North West, 4, and big brother Saint West, 21 months old. During her pregnancy with North, Kim was was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia. To avoid complication, she induced labor and gave birth almost six weeks early but she was struck with another complication after delivery. She had a condition called placenta accreta that happens when the placenta grew too deeply into the uterine wall.
She revealed it in a blog post back in November 2015 before giving birth to her second child, "My doctor had to stick his entire arm in me and detach the placenta with his hand, scraping it away from my uterus with his fingernails. ... My delivery was fairly easy, but then going through that - it was the most painful experience of my life!"
After the harrowing experience, she still had to have more surgeries to remove a piece of placenta left inside her womb and fix the scar tissue. "This was all preventing me from getting pregnant the second time around," she said. "I'm so grateful I was able to conceive again" although her risk of having pre-eclampsia and placenta accreta were increased.
Kim has been always open about her desire to have another child. In August, she said, "I hope so. There have been a lot of things said and Kanye and I have not confirmed anything. We're definitely trying. We are hoping so."
