Beyonce, George Clooney, Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon Join Hurricane Harvey Telethon

The Hollywood stars unite for 'Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Harvey Relief' to raise money for the relief efforts in the Gulf Coast.


Hollywood big star are lending their hands to the upcoming Hurricane Harvey relief telethon. Beyonce Knowles, George Clooney, Oprah Winfrey, Julia Roberts, Reese Witherspoon and Barbra Streisand are announced to take part in the fundraiser.

Country superstar George Strait is also set to appear on the telecast in a concert from the Majestic Theater in San Antonio, Texas. Other notable names to appear in live or taped segments include the likes of Jamie Foxx, Karlie Kloss, Rob Lowe, Matthew McConaughey, Dennis Quaid, Kelly Rowland, Adam Sandler, Ryan Seacrest, Michael Strahan, and Blake Shelton.

Dubbed "Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Harvey Relief", the one-hour special is scheduled for Tuesday, September 12. The star-studded charity event is confirmed to air from 8 - 9 P.M. E.T. on multiple networks such as ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX and CMT.

Proceeds from the event will benefit a number of charities aiding recovery efforts in Houston, after the storm ravaged the city and its surrounding areas. The organizations include the United Way of Greater Houston, Habitat for Humanity, Save the Children, Feeding Texas and the Mayor's Fund for Hurricane Harvey Relief.

In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, the death toll has reached 63 and many lost their homes. Kevin Hart was one of the first celebrities responding to the natural disaster. He announced donation and called no his fellow celebrities to join him.

"Today I call out ... simply anybody right now who's in a powerful position," he said. "I think we've participated in a lot of challenges on the Internet, some meaningful, some meaningless, but we've all done them. I've been a person that's partaken in several of them. At this point, this is a serious matter. I think the people are in bad shape and they need help. I'm going to lead the charge and step up in this way."

A number of celebrities have since donated to the relief efforts. They included Miley Cyrus, Ellen DeGeneres, Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Sandra Bullock, Chris Brown, Drake, Jennifer Lopez, Alex Rodriguez, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Nicki Minaj and the Kardashians. Meanwhile, Miranda Lambert helped save hundreds of dogs and other domesticated pets from the areas.
