Bill Cosby's lawyer Martin Singer released a new statement to the Associated Press on Friday, November 21 after two women named Renita Chaney Hill and Kristina Ruehli came forward with their allegations against the comedian. Martin denied the new allegations against his client, calling the claims "increasingly ridiculous."
"These brand new claims about alleged decades-old events are becoming increasingly ridiculous, and it is completely illogical that so many people would have said nothing, done nothing, and made no reports to law enforcement or asserted civil claims if they thought they had been assaulted over a span of so many years," Martin stated.
"Lawsuits are filed against people in the public eye every day," he added, "There has never been a shortage of lawyers willing to represent people with claims against rich, powerful men, so it makes no sense that not one of these new women who just came forward for the first time now ever asserted a legal claim back at the time they allege they had been sexually assaulted."
Martin then blamed media for its "breakneck rush to run stories without any corroboration or adherence to traditional journalistic standards." He concluded, "Over and over again, we have refuted these new unsubstantiated stories with documentary evidence, only to have a new uncorroborated story crop up out of the woodwork. When will it end? It is long past time for this media vilification of Mr. Cosby to stop."
Renita, 47, and Kristina, 75, were the latest women who went forward with their allegations against Bill. In an interview with CBS Pittsburgh, Renita claimed she met Bill when she was 15 and appeared on his educational television segments "Picture Pages" in the 1980s. She then began an on-again, off-again relationship with Bill.
"[Bill] would fly me to a number of cities," she said, "He would be busy during the day, then I'd come to his hotel room at night." Renita alleged Bill would offer her drinks, which she believed were drugged, when they were alone although he knew that she was underage at that time.
"One time, I remember just before I passed out, I remember him kissing and touching me and I remember the taste of his cigar on his breath, and I didn't like it," she recalled, "I remember another time when I woke up in my bed the next day and he was leaving, he mentioned, you should probably lose a little weight. I thought that odd, how would he know that?"
Speaking to Philadelphia Magazine, Kristina alleged Bill drugged her when she was 22 and working as a secretary at a talent agency in Beverly Hills, California where Bill was then a client. She said she was one of the women in Andrea Constand's lawsuit against the comedian that was eventually settled.
Kristina claimed she was invited to a party at Bill's house and she later found out that there were no other guests except her. Bill then allegedly poured her two bourbons and she lost her consciousness after drinking them.
"It was all foggy, and I woke up in the bed. I found myself on the bed, and he had his shirt off. He had unzipped his pants. I was just coming to," Kristina shared, "He was attempting to force me into oral sex. He had his hand on my head. He had his cock out, and he had my head pushed close enough to it - I just remember looking at his stomach hair. And the hair on his chest. I had never seen a black man naked before."
Kristina said she went public with her story because she wanted to add credibility to the sexual assault allegations. "I don't need money or aggravation," she added, "I'm very wealthy, so I have nothing to gain. But I wanted to come forward to tell the truth to back up other people."
Earlier on the day, TMZ shared two photos of Bill which were taken by Janice Dickinson allegedly before the comedian raped her. In the polaroid photos, Bill, who wore a colorful robe, sat beside a table with a liquor on it while holding a phone.
As the allegations have been growing hour by hour, Bill's upcoming performances in Las Vegas, Tucson, Arizona, Champaign, Illinois, Reno, Nevada, Florence, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Nevada, Illinois, Arizona, South Carolina and Washington State were canceled.
