PSy Apologizes For
Past Anti-US Songs, To Perform For Obama
South Korean pop singer
and ‘Gangnam Style’ creator Psy has tendered an apology for past concerts featuring
anti-American lyrics as he plans to perform at a holiday gig to be
attended by US PresidentBarack
Obama and his family.
Psy
immediately issued the apology after reports surfaced in the United States on
Friday about his participation in two performances criticizing the US
military in 2004.
‘While I’m grateful for the freedom to express one’s self, I’ve
learned there are limits to what language is appropriate and I’m deeply sorry
for how these lyrics could be interpreted’, the 34-year-old rapper said in a statement.
‘I will forever be sorry for any pain I have caused by those words’, he added.
Psy
at a show in 2004 protested the deaths of two teenage South Korean girls who
were run over by a U.S. tank stationed in the country. In another, he
criticized the US-led invasion of Iraq and its occupation, in which South
Korean forces participated.
Psy
is the current YouTube record holder for the most watched video with his viral
smash hit ‘Gangnam style’ video having a total of 919,767,490 views.
