Find Out the Reason Why Will Smith Wanted to Be Famous

The 'I Am Legend' actor said that he 'wanted to be the most famous entertainer on Earth' after his then-girlfriend cheated on him.

Will Smith recently opened up about a reason that had made him the most popular celebrity ever. In an interview with Benicio del Toro on Variety's "Actors on Actors" special, the "The Pursuit of Happyness" actor revealed that it was his ex-girlfriend who ignited his ambition to be a big star.

Smith decided he wanted to be famous after the said ex-girlfriend treated him wrong. "When I was 15, my girlfriend cheated on me," Smith said. "And from that moment, in this bizarre psychological twist, I wanted to be the most famous entertainer on Earth."

Smith believed that if he became famous, no woman would ever cheat on him anymore. "I believed that your girlfriend couldn't cheat on you. It's that really bizarre psychological leap. I'm always looking for that in my character. What's the bizarre leap they make based on some trauma," Smith added.

The incident took place in 1983, and Smith proved it that he could make his dream come true as his career started to rise since he appeared on "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air". Since then, he went on starring in big movies such as "Independence Day", "I Am Legend" and "Men in Black". Smith will next be seen in "Concussion" that will arrive stateside on Christmas Day.
