Jay-Z Announces Brooklyn Event to Celebrate Tidal's 1 Million Subscribers

The celebration is expected to take place in Brooklyn on October 20, although more details about it are still kept under wraps.

Jay-Z insists Tidal is doing pretty fine despite numerous criticisms it's been receiving. On Tuesday, September 29, the rap mogul let everyone know that the streaming service had reached 1 million subscribers, and he planned to do something to celebrate the milestone.

" 'Nothing real can be threatened, nothing unreal exists' Tidal is platinum. 1,000,000 people and counting," Hov proudly wrote on Twitter. "Let's celebrate 10/20 Brooklyn." However, details about the celebration aren't immediately available.

Ever since it was launched in March originally to rival Spotify, Tidal has never been a huge hit although it has offered several exclusive contents by Madonna, Rihanna, Beyonce Knowles and Prince. Hov himself played an exclusive "B-Sides" concert for Tidal users back in May.

The service's 1 million users after more than 6 months in business pale in comparison to Spotify's 20 million paid subscribers and 11 million people signing up for Apple Music's 3-month trial.
