Jennifer Hudson and Rita Ora Set to Guest Star on 'Empire'

The former 'American Idol' winner and the 'R.I.P.' singer will appear on the FOX hit drama series before the first season ends.

Jennifer Hudson and Rita Ora are coming to "Empire". The two music stars are tapped as guest stars on the new hit drama series. Their roles have not been revealed yet, but E! News reports that the two will appear before the first season ends.

The site further says that Iggy Azalea was also offered a guest spot on the FOX show, but scheduling issue prevented her to take the gig. The network has not commented on the casting rumors.

Hudson is no stranger to acting since she has starred in 2006's "Dreamgirls", which earned her an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, "The Secret Life of Bees" and "Winnie Mandela" among other movies. She also guest starred in several episodes of NBC's musical drama "Smash".

Meanwhile, the "Empire" guest stint will mark an acting debut for "I Will Never Let You Down" hitmaker Ora.

"Empire" has become a new big hit for FOX, averaging 10 million total viewers and a 4.1 rating in the coveted 18-49 demographic. It was renewed for a second season in January by the network.
