The Ghana FA is set to name former Chelsea boss Avram Grant as Kwesi Appiah’s successor.
“I understand that the Ghana Football Association is on the verge of naming a new coach to succeed Kwesi [Appiah] but Maxwell Konadu is the chosen one destined to lead the team,” Gyan told Goal Ghana.
“If they give him the job, he will win the next edition of the Nations Cup. It's now time for another indigenous coach to win the trophy for Ghana after 1982.
“They should not make any mistake to give the team to a foreigner because the Black Stars will be dropping in form in the coming years and must achieve something with this Golden Generation, even under Maxwell Konadu the same feat will happen but he will be able to win Ghana their fifth Nations Cup trophy before the team collapses,” he added.
Konadu is the stand-in coach of the four-time African champions
