GHANA: I will vote for Akufo-Addo in 2016; It Is non-negotiable – Baako

The Managing Editor of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako Jnr has disclosed that he will vote for the Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Even though Kweku Baako is known to belong to the Convention People’s Party (CPP) he disclosed on Wednesday’s edition of PEACE FM morning show ‘Kokrokoo’ that he has never voted for a Presidential candidate of his party; adding he has rather been voting for the parliamentary aspirants who contests on the ticket of the CPP.

He told Kwami Sefa Kayi that as a matter of principle, he decided ‘long ago’ never to vote for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and so since 1996, he has been voting for the presidential candidates of the NPP.

According to him, he voted for former President John Agyekum Kufuor, in 1996, 2000 and 2004. And then in 2008 and 2012, he voted Nana Addo.

“…and in 2016, I will vote Nana; it is non-negotiable” he stated.

Kweku Baako further added that "even if my father contests for NDC position, I won’t vote for him. I am not a member of the NPP but everybody knows my choice as far as the presidential ticket is concerned. Because as for me by conscience, conviction and commitment, I won’t vote NDC and so if you are even my father you won’t get my vote. It is non-negotiable. It is a matter of principle and there is a reason why I don’t vote and will never vote NDC; not even if my mother contests"
