Akon Crowd-Surfs in Giant Bubble at African Concert Reportedly to Avoid Contracting Ebola

Some people defend the R'n'B singer, saying he doesn't wear the bubble during his onstage performance and he has also used the bubble during his previous shows in some countries.

Akon recently flew to Africa to play a concert at the International Day of Peace in Goma, a city in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. During the show, the R&B superstar donned a giant transparent bubble while crowd-surfing over 60,000 fans.

The action prompted criticism from some people who claimed the star used the giant bubble to avoid contracting Ebola from any of the concertgoers. The deadly virus that's sweeping West Africa has killed thousands of people.

"The Ebola virus is no joke," The Source website wrote. "And to avoid contracting it from anybody, when Akon left the stage to crowd surf with the people that were attending his concert, he did so in a huge plastic protective bubble."

Meanwhile, some other media that defended Akon said he used the bubble because it made crowd-surfing easier and he didn't wear it when performing onstage. They added that Akon also donned the bubble at his previous concerts in Australia and Dubai.
