Jamie Foxx to Play Mike Tyson in Biopic

The Electro depicter in 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' will lead a movie written by 'The Wolf of Wall Street' scribe.

Jamie Foxx lands a lead role in a biopic about Mike Tyson, Variety learns. The feature film is scripted by Terence Winter who got an Oscar nomination for penning "The Wolf of Wall Street". Rick Yorn, who is Foxx's manager, will serve as a producer.

It's unclear which part of Tyson's life the movie will focus on, but Winter has a lot of materials to explore since the former boxing champ has quite an eventful life over the past 30 years. He once served six years in jail for rape after losing his title. One of Tyson's most controversial fights was a rematch against Evander Holyfied where he bit off his opponent's ear.

After retiring from boxing, he made a cameo in "The Hangover" and did a one-man show in Las Vegas in 2012. He also tried out Broadway with the help from director Spike Lee. His memoir "Undisputed Truth" was on the New York Times bestseller list.

Although there was never a feature film depicting Tyson's life story before, HBO once made a TV movie about the retired athlete with Michael Jai White playing the lead role. After playing the main baddie in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" and making a cameo in "A Million Ways to Die in the West", Foxx will next be seen in "Annie" remake.
