Lupita Nyong’o has been a success as a far as film and Hollywood is concerned. She has been celebrated all over the world as film critics, fans and fellow actors applaud the actress for her touching role in her film.

Kenyans have not been left behind in in celebrating the star. To celebrate her acting career, a thanksgiving mass for the 12 Years a Slave star will be held today, Sunday at Ridgeway Baptist Church in Nairobi. Her family, friends and fans are congregating in the church, to dedicate the special mass to her. The mass follows her successful role in the award winning film 12 Years a Slave. So far she has bagged the Critics’ Awards as the best supporting actress and the SAG Awards for the same role. But perhaps her nomination for the Oscar Awards has elicited excitement from her family, friends and fans across the globe.  The Oscar awards are scheduled for March 2, 2014, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood and like the rest of the awards, Lupita has been nominated for her supporting role. She remains hopeful as she anxiously awaits for the big event. Judging by the mood on social media, Kenyans too, remain optimistic of the rising star. The thanks giving mass today, perhaps shows how much Kenyans are excited about her Hollywood breakthrough. Lupita confessed that she has bagged awards that surpassed her imagination and thanks God for it.  Kisumu Senator Professor Anyang Nyon’go is a proud father even though he, together with his wife Dorothy, watched the movie over the weekend for the first time.
