Eminem Reflects on His Tumultuous Relationship With Mom on 'Headlights'

Eminem Reflects on His Tumultuous Relationship With Mom on 'Headlights'

In the song, which features fun.'s leader Nate Ruess, the Detroit MC apologizes to mother Debbie Mathers for dissing her in 'Cleaning Out My Closet' and thanks her for raising him.

Eminem is known for having a rocky relationship with mother Debbie Mathers. Now, he is trying to apologize to her mother by teaming up with fun's leader, Nate Ruess, for a new song entitled "Headlights".

At the beginning, the track sounds like fun.'s songs. Then, Eminem begins spitting his bars, telling his mom that he doesn't hate her despite many bad things between them. He also says sorry for singing "Cleaning Out My Closet", in which he calls her mother "selfish b**ch" and hopes she will "burn in hell."

"I went in headfirst/ Never thinking about who what I said hurt, in what verse/ My mom probably got it the worst, the brunt of it/ But as stubborn as we are, did I take it too far?" he raps. " 'Cleanin' Out My Closet' and all them other songs, but regardless, I don't hate you, 'cause ma/ you're still beautiful to me 'cause you're my mom."

And finally, the Detroit rapper thanks his mom for raising him and acting as both his mother and father. "I'm mad I didn't get the chance to thank you for being my mom and my dad/ So mom, please accept this as a tribute," he continues.

"Headlights" is not the only song that has recently surfaced online. Almost at the same time, Eminem's collaboration with Kendrick Lamar, "Love Game", also hit the web. The song includes a sample from Wayne Fontana and The Mindbenders' 1965 song "Game of Love".

"I'll say it, you can suck a softball through a straw, used to be my fiance/ 'Til you s**ked/ on Wayne, Andre, and Kanye/ Lebron, Akon, Jay, Lil Jon, Raekwon, Ma$e/ Polow Tha Don, Drake, Dante Ross, James Conway, Kwame," they rap.

Both songs are lifted from "MMLP2", Eminem's eighth studio album that is scheduled to hit the stores on November 5.
