Fela Museum ‘Kalakuta Republic’ Finally Opened

Kalakuta Museum

There was no better way to open the much awaited Fela Kuti museum than to do so on his 74th post-humous birthday.
The museum called ‘Kalakuta Rebuplic’ had a grand opening ceremony performed by the late singer’s daughter Yeni Kuti and a representative of the Commissioner of the Lagos State government.
The museum parades several bedrooms, sitting rooms, roof-top bar and restaurant,  photographs, with several of  Fela’s clothes and shoes on display.
Fela’s artist, Lemmy  Ghariokwu has been announced as the curator for the museum.
Earlier in the day, a symposium tagged ‘Fela the Great, with a topic: Corruption and Generation Next’ was held at the NECA House auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
Speakers at the symposium include Feti Atta, Ndidi Nwuneli, Supo Sasore and Professor Michael Veal. The symposium was moderated by Prince Yemisi Shyllon.
